Thanks to the latest technology, capturing unforgettable moments is now very easy. Apart from digital cameras, cell phones now come along with built-in cameras that make it very easy to take pictures and preserve these precious moments. But what about those pictures you took before digital cameras became a commodity?
Many people can get really frustrated and disappointed with many photos taken with still cameras due to the poor quality of the shots. Even if you can find the negatives and reprint them, if the photos were taken poorly to begin with, reproducing them will be useless. But that is not to say that it cannot be saved. With simple elements from Adobe Photoshop, you’ll be able to improve the quality of your photos and keep the memories alive.
Here are some great ways to edit your photos with Adobe Photoshop Elements 6 Tutorials…
cropped
You look great in that high school prom photo, but you’d rather forget about that guy standing right next to you. With the crop tool, you can keep a copy of your high school party photo without your ex. After scanning the image and opening the file in Adobe Photoshop, drag your cursor while holding down the left button of your mouse to select the area you want to keep. Then click on the image and select crop. You will be left with the selected area of the image that you selected.
Define angles
If your child tries to take a picture and it comes out a little slanted, you can re-align it so it comes out straight. Simply select the Measure tool located in the menu toolbar on the left side of your screen. Click one of the image horizons that you want to realign, and then drag the pointer to the other end. This should fix any minor misalignments. If it still seems a little off, click on the Canvas option and rotate it on the canvas until you’re satisfied with it. The program will automatically expand the canvas to fill in the empty spaces.
Color Touch ups
If the lighting is causing the photo you took to look a bit orange, you can also remedy that by adjusting the colors on the photo. Go to Image, then select Adjustments, then Color Balance. It will open a menu that allows you to fix the colors of the image. Just drag each pointer left or right. Since Adobe comes with a preview feature, it will allow you to see changes as you drag cursors to help you get the image as close to the way you remember it.
sharpening
The most common of all the photos taken by film cameras is that they sometimes tend to look a bit blurry. To highlight the details of your shot, select the Sharpen feature in the Filter option on the menu bar. The program will automatically sharpen the image details a little at a time. Continue the entire process until you are satisfied with the details of the entire image.
